Processed foods do not supply your body with the essential enzymes and fiber it needs to eliminate toxins. This can result in a buildup of toxic material in your colon, which can lead to many health problems.
Many health conditions are also related to a parasite infestation, improper digestion of food, or a lack of a healthy diet with enough fiber.
Exposure to pollutants during pregnancy may have damaging effects that are inherited by at least four generations, according to research.
Scientists have discovered that high doses of certain toxins can alter the activity of rat genes in a way that continues to affect the animals’ great-grandchildren.
The findings, from a study at Washington State University, suggest that toxin exposure during pregnancy may play a role in inherited diseases. If this is the case it could mean that certain diseases that afflict people today may be influenced by toxins to which their great-grandparents were exposed. Michael Skinner, who led the research, said: “We believe this phenomenon will be widespread and be a major factor in understanding how disease develops.”
Lack of fiber, inadequate water intake and a poor diet are frequent causes of constipation, which indicate that the equilibrium of the body is out of balance.
When the membrane of the large colon is unhealthy (impacted with wastes), it cannot assimilate or absorb vitamins and minerals as efficiently as a healthy colon.
HERBAL CLEANSING REJUVENATES YOUR BODY
The health of the entire body is maintained when the intestinal system is working properly. Herbal cleansing can help rejuvenate your body naturally and decrease your risk of many health problems.
Diseases of the colon include constipation, irritable bowel syndrome, colitis, diverticulitis, hemorrhoids, Crohn's disease and colon/rectal cancer.
A sluggish bowel can retain many pounds of toxic fecal matter. If we allow our colons to become toxic waste dumps, we risk damaging our livers and other internal organs.
The body eliminates toxins either by directly neutralizing them or by excreting them. Over time, toxins that the body is unable to eliminate build up in the tissues, usually in our fat stores.
Herbal Detox Plan
Herbs can do much more than a colonic can. Colon cleansing herbs not only cleanse and scrub, but also draw out old fecal matter and toxins, stop bleeding, disinfect, kill and expel parasites, destroy and remove cancer cells, kill Candida albicans yeast overgrowth (which is a major contributor towards Irritable Bowel Syndome and Crohns disease), regulate and balance intestinal flora, remove toxic metals such as lead and mercury, and strengthen the muscles of the colon to promote normal bowel movements (and therefore heal spastic colon).
The liver, kidneys and the intestines (colon) are the primary organs of detoxification. The small intestine is about 20 feet long and the large intestine is about 5 feet long. Four-fifths of the body's immune system is located in the lining of the small intestine.
Parasitic infection of the intestine increases allergic tendencies and can cause colitis and IBS - irritable bowel syndrome. We casually ask the vet for worm medicine for our dog or cat, but never give a thought about the parasites in our own bodies.
A sluggish colon can release toxins into the blood stream. This can contribute to a wide range of diseases. Constipation is often the first sign that our bowel is not functioning properly.
In the United States, constipation results in more than 2.5 million visits to physicians and 92,000 hospitalizations. The medical term is known as fecal impaction and it is more common with overweight individuals and people over 50.
Cancer affecting the colon and/or rectum is diagnosed in more than 140,000 Americans each year. About one in nine cases affect people younger than 50, or up to about 15,000 young people annually.
Get Your Colonoscopy
If you were born before 1957, you need to get a colonoscopy ASAP.
If you don’t have a family history of colon cancer, you need to get a colonoscopy on your 50th birthday, your 60th birthday and your 70th birthday. If a sibling or parent was diagnosed with colon cancer, you should get a colonoscopy in your 40s. If you tell your health care provider that a sibling or parent was diagnosed with colon cancer, your medical insurance or HMO will pay for the colonoscopy.
Each year, almost 60,000 die of colon cancer. Colon cancer is the second leading cause of cancer deaths in the US. When colon cancer is detected early, the cure rate is 95 percent. It is estimated that there are more than a million colon cancer survivors in the US.
Remember Elizabeth Montgomery who played Samantha on Bewitched? She died at age 62, just eight weeks after being diagnosed with colon cancer. Katie Couric's husband, Jay Monahan, died of colon cancer at the age of 42. Charles Schulz, the cartoonist who created Peanuts, died of colon cancer at age 77. Other well-known people who died of colon cancer include Milton Berle, Audrey Hepburn and Rod Roddy of The Price is Right, who invited members of the audience to come on down. Roddy died at the age of 67.
The Parasite Epidemic
Research at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis reveals that a unique combination of genes inherited less than 10,000 years ago allows the parasite responsible for toxoplasmosis to infect virtually all warm-blooded animals.
Parasite life cycles are complex and thought to develop over long periods with their hosts. This study reveals that parasites sometimes adapt rapidly to new hosts, indicating that host-parasite relationships may not always represent stable, long-term associations.
The findings raise the possibility that other parasites may also radically change their lifestyle by a similar mechanism and hence present new threats of infection.
About 35 million people in the United States - and up to a quarter of the world's population - are thought to be chronically infected with Toxoplasma. However, only people with weakened immunity typically develop severe toxoplasmosis, a potentially serious disease that can lead to birth defects, brain inflammation and vision problems. The infection usually is acquired by accidentally swallowing spores from contaminated soil, water, cat litter or objects that have had contact with cat feces. The infection also can be acquired from eating raw or partially cooked meat, especially chicken, pork, lamb or venison. Read about the Dangers of Parasites.
A UC Davis study, published recently in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, indicates that increased fiber content in a meal boosts feelings of fullness in women and increases levels of a certain hormone associated with satiety.
Previous research has shown that the hormone cholecystokinin is released from the small intestine when a fat-containing food is eaten. It's thought that this hormone may be the chemical messenger that acts in response to fat to notify the brain that the body is getting full.
Fiber, roughage, bran, plant bulk ... whatever you call it, we know it's important to health. Dietary fiber has been shown to protect us from cancer (especially colon cancer), heart disease, bowel disease, including constipation and diverticulosis, and obesity. It may also help to reduce blood sugar levels in people with diabetes. Why not give Femhealth's Fiber Cleanse a try?
A total cleanse allows the body to detoxify and function more efficiently. It gives people greater energy, more mental clarity and enables the liver to resist disease and purify the body.
Colon cancer develops in the lining of the bowel, known as the mucosal lining. It is very similar to the lining of the inside of your mouth. A single cell in the bowel lining mutates and begins to multiply rapidly. The collection of cells that grows will often form a polyp.
Polyps are a collection of non-cancerous cells, which looks like a pea on the end of a stalk. Many older people have polyps on their bowel lining.
The polyp grows very slowly and can take between 6 and 10 years before it becomes cancerous. The cancer cells first invade the polyp stalk and then move down into the bowel lining. The cancer will keep growing until it eventually penetrates through the bowel wall. The cancer cells may go into the lymph nodes or the blood stream and can move to other parts of the body where a ‘secondary’ tumour may develop. In bowel cancer this is often in the liver.
Food high in fat may increase the risk of bowel cancer by causing the body to increase the amount of certain digestive chemicals, which if left in the bowel for any length of time, may cause changes to cells lining the bowel.
Fat may be found in processed foods such as cookies, ice cream, puddings and in processed meat products such as ham, sausages, bacon and lunch meat.
Too much sugar from processed foods and soft drinks alter the type and number of bacteria growing and living in the bowel. If the numbers of ‘friendly’ bacterial decrease then the bowel may not work efficiently. Many of these foods are low in fiber and slow down the movement of the waste matter travelling through the bowel allowing any toxins present to have more contact with cells in the bowel lining.
Impaired digestion, poor absorption and a general deterioration of the intestinal tract can go on for quite some time without producing recognizeable symptoms. When symptoms first appear they are usually general and non-specific and can include: decreased energy, headache, fatigue, reduced resistance to infections and minor digestive problems, such as bloating, gas, belching, indigestion and constipation. We either ignore these early signs of bowel dysfunction or suppress them with antacids, gas relievers and laxatives.
As the bowel function continues to deteriorate, more serious problems arise. They range from asthma and allergies to arthritis and cancer. They include auto-immune diseases, such as rheumatoid arthritis, scleroderma and lupus. Irritable bowel disease (IBS), Crohn's disease and colitis may appear. Chronic skin conditions such as psoriasis, eczema and hives are also common.
